We made it! We made it!

Our entire crew had a long, hard week full of emotions and new routines and long days. But today, we finished ALL of our school and work goals for the day by 1:00. High fives all around.

In the spirit of full disclosure, last week was just as long and hard and frustrating, and I walked into Friday feeling like a failure and a little paralyzed with overwhelm. I don’t know if the first weeks of summer to school year transition are also hard for you, but if you are feeling something similar, I want you to know that you aren’t alone.

Some things that helped me: 1) a long talk with Tyler, 2) intentional sleep, 3) a short to-do list with actionable steps, 4) honesty with my people who are always willing to help me walk through ideas for fighting off anxiety and depression, and 5) honesty with my current situation to my own self. Life is really hard sometimes. You aren’t a terrible person for admitting that sometimes.

Here are five things that made my week better:

  1. I got to check “Finish Newsletter” off of my to-do list, which is the best thing about to-do lists. If you haven’t subscribed, you should. Seriously, check out the archives.

  2. I read this Instagram post by Jeff Chu about his friend, Rachel Held Evans. Also, I think every single RHE fan collectively gasped when Lin-Manuel Miranda posted this on Twitter.

  3. I’ve made these twice in the past two weeks, and all of my family loves them. (I cook them on 400 instead of 350 because I do what I want.)

  4. I’ve been taking these daily for a couple of months now, and I have more good hair days than usual.

  5. I watched this and cried a good cry. Tyler and I also finished Season 3 of The Good Place, which is brilliant and a gift to humanity. We also watched Late Night, which, if you have sensitive ears, it has swearwords but is otherwise delightful. You can find it on Amazon Prime.
