512 Project: Connecting with Austin’s History

A video documentary project I designed and implemented for a high school United States History course.

The students started with this driving question: How can I be a public historian in my own city of Austin, Texas?

Objective

Students, as public historians, will deep dive into the history of a historic landmark or district in the city of Austin, record their learning through video/audio, and present documentation of learning for Exhibition with an edited video of 5 minutes and 12 seconds in honor of Austin’s 512 area code.

Below you’ll see the final project of one student’s work.
